400 YEARS
Molson Coors handed us the Grolsch account off the back of the work we produced for Coors Light. The first brief was to create a campaign to celebrate 400 years since the creation of their iconic swing top bottle.
So, we collaborated with five different artists to create five unique films. Each one a fresh interpretation of the swing-top bottle created using an original technique or visual.
Trajectories
We worked with Greg Barth to create an art installation consisting of 400 coloured balls and one drummer. We then projected light onto the balls in a carefully choreographed sequence to create a vibrant firework like effect to the beat of the drum, despite nothing on the set ever moving.
Here’s a link to one of those annoying ‘making of’ films that brands do. Only this one, by the director Greg, is really interesting… Honest. http://www.blinkink.co.uk/a/5130
World Inside
We worked with Noah Harris to show the surreal, dream like goings on inside the bottle, using a combination of stop-frame animation, real objects and CGI.
Splash
We worked with Catherine Losing to show a white porcelain Grolsch bottle spring to life with the addition of gallons of coloured paint. It was all shot for real, from scratch.
Grow
We worked with Kyle Bean to create a Grolsch swing top bottle using real seedlings that grew over the period of a week.
Colour Explosion
We worked with Tom & Nicos to create an animation that consisted of 3D printing and 2D animation combined.
OOH
As well as peppering the country with arty posters and digital screens, we commissioned 400 up and coming artists to create their own tribute to the swing-top which were then used on Grolsch’s website and packaging…
And also had the idea to create an outdoor mural, using the skills of some talented street artists to come together and use the canvas to celebrate the swing top in the best way they could.
UNCONVENTIONAL BY TRADITION
Grolsch were one of the first beer brands to do away with convention and use the now classic 'swing-top' bottle design. This campaign celebrates their unconventional attitude. We created a film using dozens of real speakers to create a giant sculpture of the bottle...
